Kieron is a producer, composer and musician.
He loves music and the expression of his heart that it represents. While
music has always been an intense love in Kieron's life, it wasn't until
his late 30's that he finally dared answer the true calling of his heart:
to share the love, compassion and healing available to us all. Coming from
a traditional religious background and family, he grew up feeling and
hearing the beauty and haunting reflection of Gregorian chants and the
sacred music of the high church of his childhood.
A
Love of Music
Inspired as a child by his mother’s loving
voice, Kieron's love for music was born early in his childhood home in
Louisville, Kentucky. Kieron grew up with his heart and ears filled with
the sounds of the classical and renaissance music of the masters. Kieron's
formal musical training began early with first grade teaching of basic
music and the songs of the Catholic Church. By the third grade he began
piano lessons, and from the beginning he would compose his own music and
songs. Even at this early age, Kieron was composing melodies, themes and
choral pieces.... many of the melodies are now surfacing as he composes
and records new CDs.
Music is well said to be
the speech of angels... ~ Thomas Carlyle ~
Play
While Kieron is intensely involved in his music,
he also has a love of many other things, including nature and the
environment, and of his country. His hobbies include music, of course,
gardening, hiking, sports officiating, poetry, photography, good
who-done-it mysteries, science fiction, archeology, history, old black and
white movies, weather-watching and crossword puzzles. He loves animals,
especially birds and dogs. He comes from a large family, being the oldest
of seven children, and is very proud of his own son, Devin, who also has a
love of music, having been a member of the Florence Coffee High School
Show Choir. In fact, if you listen closely to the Christmas
Reflections on The Fallen Snow, Stained Glass and Cathedral
Whispers CDs, you will hear Devin's vocals and voice along with
that of his dad.
Work
Kieron is formally trained as an engineer, with
an M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering (Air Quality Control and
Environmental Engineering) from the University of Kentucky, and a B. S.
degree in Applied Math and Physics (Meteorology and Air Pollution
Meteorology) from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Campus.
He has worked as an engineer in environmental
assessment, renewable energy development and technology transfer, and
high-technology defense systems for over 25 years. He currently works for
the U.S. Army, Department of Defense. Kieron has worked in NEPA
environmental assessment, air quality permit evaluation and negotiation,
renewable energy programs such as biomass fuels and energy development for
the U.S. Department of Energy and the Tennessee Valley Authority, and even
worked for the TVA at the Browns Ferry Nuclear electrical generation
plant.
Okay - that's a lot of titles and jargon to
say: All of Kieron's professional efforts have been focused on making a
real difference in the lives of average citizens, working hard to give
them a secure, high-quality life, and on making a difference for those men
and women prepared to give their lives in defense of our rights to be free
and happy.. Kieron totally believes that our freedom is precious.
The
Birth of Cathedral Whispers
Kieron chose engineering over possible
music scholarships for an early career because of his love for nature and
people, and an overwhelming desire to make a direct and immediate
difference. He wanted to give back what had been given him. Now his desire
to make that difference has come full circle - a calling to help heal the
hurts, loneliness, indifference, rejection, fear and inner hunger so
common to so many of us. Cathedral Whispers IS Kieron. The music of
Cathedral Whispers is borne of his sincere desire to help each of us come
to a reshaping of our future - one that is bright, caring, happy and
filled with the presence of the universal love which is God. This burning
desire is the inspiration for Kieron. It is the inspiration for Cathedral
Whispers. It is the inspiration for all of his music.
A
note from Kieron
"Sooner or later, no matter who
we are as human beings…no matter our station in life…powerful or
small…rich or poor…we all come to wonder about the reason for our very
being…about our relationship to God…about the fundamental questions of
life…why are we here, and where are we going? Often we are looking for
answers in the most dramatic ways…lightning bolts as it were…and
sometimes it does indeed happen that way…and our lives are changed
forever…a car-wreck…a divorce…a lost loved one…a lost job…the
birth of a child…a chance of a lifetime…but more often than not, the
greatest miracles are those too small to see without looking… too grand
to understand without taking a step backward along with a big breath for
perspective…too quiet to hear without listening. Most often, the
critical causal events, the most profound truths, the most fundamental
answers… come to us in whispers... in the whispers of angels you might
say…in a Cathedral's Whispers. Listen closely to the music of your
heart…for you may actually hear them."
