Most often God and the universe speak to us in the
most subtle ways, if we take the time to notice…in quiet forms of
angels, bending near our ear, gently touching our hearts…speaking to
us of things great and small…of things light and profound…This is
Cathedral Whispers the music company. This is Kieron the artist.
Cathedral
Whispers is probably my second-most favorite music CD, although Stained
Glass would be pretty close. This CD was planned to be the first
of the music CDs I produced. In fact the title of the CD, and the
company, was divinely inspired within my heart, and represent the core
of what I as a music artist am all about. Ah - but the twists and turns
of the God's plan are marvelous indeed and it turned out to be my fourth
CD instead of the first. All things happen in the correct course of
time.
The name and title, Cathedral
Whispers, was, and is, the driving force for me finally
following my dream - the CD itself is a unique blend of the tradition
and prayerfulness of Latin Chant with the technology and opportunities
available for the music sounds of today and tomorrow. I guess it can
best be called a New Age music genre style, though it's kind of in a
category by itself in many ways. As to why it is what it is -Latin chant
for me represents an old, beautiful traditional music style - a style
that is deeply rooted within my Catholic upbringing. Any study of music
history will show that Latin chant within the Church specifically goes
back to at least the early middle ages, while chant itself is probably
as old as humankind.
My love for the
Gregorian chants is more than just a fascination with the sound form. I
feel it…I understand it…the rhythm and the flow……it touches me
to my innermost depths and through it I can feel the presence of God.
For me - it really is the music of the angels. Now I don't mean
to imply that only chant is the music of the angels, or that I
exclusively have access to the music of the angels. I only mean to say -
that for me - music is the most pure expression of my connection to God
and of my love for Him. Chant is one of the music forms at the core of
my soul.
Kind of a prayer in
sound, Cathedral Whispers is about continuing the
blessing. Many people fear change and progress….new music and style
replaces old, even in Church traditions. But the old still has many
blessings to give, and often awaits discovery by the new or next
generation. This is true in people, in beautiful paintings, in classic
novels, in music, and many other things. The challenge for me was to use
new nuances in sounds that would make the chants and hymns of my youth
sing out again - would capture their essence, imbue them with new joy
and energy, and allow the inner blessings to flow again.
Cathedral
Whispers does all this and more…bask in the joy and power of O
Sanctissima…feel the drama and pulsing energy of the Kyrie
Eleison…enjoy the meditation and gentle solitude of the Regina
Caelitum (Hymn Hail Holy Queen) piano… feel the strength and
mystery of the Pange Lingua meditation…refresh your spirit in
the reverence and gratitude of the Gregorian Ave Maria…remember
your own youth in the simplicity and purity of O Lord I am Not Worthy
(a child's first communion hymn - among their first, most dramatic walks
with God within the Catholic tradition)
The cover art for the Cathedral
Whispers CD is the most beautiful cover artwork on any of my
CDs, and was painted on commission by my friend and spirit brother Tom
Barber. The actual painting is spectacularly beautiful. I met Tom at an
Entrepreneur's business seminar called "The Forum" offered
through Income Builder's International. That forum and the crossing of
my life's path with Tom's was a profound moment in my life. When I met
Tom, I felt as though I had known him all my life, like a brother. He is
one of the most gifted artists I have ever known. We discovered his life
dreams and mine were on similar paths and a friendship blossomed
immediately. When he agreed to paint the Cathedral Whispers
cover for me - he did so after only hearing me talk excitedly about what
the CD was going to be, and without hearing the actual music. Talk about
divine planning. The painting he produced was perfect, and yet another
confirmation for me of the divine order of the music and the focus. And
if you look closely enough…it seems to me as if one of the whispering
angels kind of looks like me - though I am sure it's only my
imagination.
Final Thoughts: …. Cathedral
Whispers the CD was born of an inner desire to create beauty in
music that will last, and that will touch hearts and lives. It was my
way of giving back to the world because so much has been given me…..It
is music that will leave the world a better place than perhaps it would
have been without my being here. Through the music of this CD, my heart
soars, and my soul and the love of God is shared with the world.
Inwardly, I fly with the angels - sing with them - play with them…….
