I See the Sunrise: The Music of Hope is a very
special music CD to me. It is the outward expression of a very strong
love of family and friends, and of appreciation of the Christian
heritage of my youth. No matter one's specific religion or family
circumstance, we are all human beings, with a deep, inner wonderment of
(and at some core level, belief in) something greater, more divine
than ourselves.
For some time, as I grow older with each passing year,
I have more deeply appreciated the sacred preciousness of life!
Further, I have been forced to consider my own mortality, and that of
those I love the most- my father and mother, my brothers and sisters,
adults who were the mentors of my youth, friends and their extended
families. I see the enthusiasm and adventurous spirit of unbridled
youth, who have yet to even realize the truly awesome mystery of their
own life's journey- the promise of tomorrow. But at the same time must
contend with the finality of the fact that all things someday end.
Our lives are up and down- smooth roads followed by
potholes, hills and valleys. My own life is pretty typical- filled
with my own small triumphs and disasters, light moments and dramas, joys
and sorrows, laughter and tears. Two steps forward, two backward
and one or two sideways. But one thing in particular stands out to
me as often the hardest to deal with and to understand.
Loss! A major move, a life changing injury, friends that grow
apart, separation by death, rejection or divorce, loss of a long-time
job or career, those adjusting to an "empty nest" (once the
celebration has worn off). These are the times and circumstances
when we can feel most alone and the most abandoned. These are the
times when we may even come to question the "why" of it all-
and fear the future- even if only for a brief moment.
I See the Sunrise is my attempt to let the Love
of Heaven touch our hearts- the power of familiar melodies from
our youth or past, the rediscovery of special memories, the reminder of
universal, unconditional love and purpose. The special
arrangements and combination of sound textures were chosen in the hope
that you, the listener, might find pause for reflection, strength for
your continued journey, courage of purpose, certainty of the Love that
is God, and perhaps a little less loneliness of spirit.
This music represents the first of what will soon be a
three-CD set, touching on hope, faith and love, the building blocks of
humanity's relationship to itself, and to the divine Spirit that made us
all. These blocks are the rock-solid foundation of soul and and
human existence. Hold onto them and treasure them. They will
see each us through the journey that is uniquely ours.
Final thoughts....a morning sunrise- the
certainty of youth...symbols of the promise of tomorrow...What better
way to remind us all of that which we profess to profoundly believe in
to the depth of our very soul? What better reminder of the purpose
of our time here on earth? the morning sunrise...the capstone of
the "song" of our lives- I really do "See the
Sunrise"- I really do hear the song of my life- the song of your
life- the "Music of Hope". Do you see it too? Do you
hear it? The sunrise and the music that is uniquely yours?
May your journey be safe, sure and filled with the
music of hope.
